The two-weeks long induction for newly appointed Magistrates Grade I came to a close on Thursday September22, 2022 at Colline Hotel in Mukono.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Supreme Court Justice, Hon. Justice Mike Chibita, who is also the Chairperson JTI Governing Council who awarded the participants with certificates of completion.

Hon. Justice Chibita congratulated the Magistrates upon the appointments and in a special way applauded HW Frank Tumwesigye who had been identified by the JTI team for being a good time manager. He informed the participants that it was a policy of the government to induct all persons that join Public Service and serving officers that get promoted.

"The purpose of the induction training was to refresh the existing professional skills, capacity and knowledge of the participants for effective service delivery," he said.

Adding that the training was also aimed at filling the knowledge gaps and building the capacity of the participants with the aim of improving the quality of administration of justice, building and improving their work morale, which he said consequently resulted in greater output in the delivery of justice.

Hon. Justice Chibita commended JTI for organizing a tailor-made hands-on training which he believed equipped the new Judicial Officers on how to handle complex and cumbersome matters, and for introducing them to management of common hot spots in the adjudication of cases.

The JTI Executive Director urged the Magistrates to put to practice what they had learnt and also acquire more knowledge. Next on the JTI calendar is the induction of newly appointed Judges of the High Court.
